As in the story of many colleagues in the profession and study I encountered along the way, I was the children who spent much of the time drawing and drawing. They were notebooks and sketchbooks, mostly occupied with car drawings and some characters. I ordered cardboard boxes in the supermarket and creating toys, drawing, cutting and pasting. Even on breadcrumbs I drew.
At the time, automobiles were the most technological and near or palpable thing, whose varying shapes and colors caught my attention. When I was asked, at age 6, what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer was ready: I want to be a Designer.
So it began.
I discovered that there was someone who made money to spend the day drawing cars. This became my dream. I was walking the path that I thought was the best for this. From 1987 to 1989, I took technical courses at the former Pro-tec School in São Paulo, of Mechanical Design and Machinery Design. In the 90's, already working as Mechanical Designer (in the plastic injection molding industry), I joined the Engineering course, São Judas Tadeu University. I attended the first year with many difficulties until one day, passing one of the University halls, I saw a Design exhibition. I was enchanted by sketches and hand-drawn illustrations, at that moment, I discovered that I was on the wrong course. The following year (1993), I entered the Mackenzie University, in the course of Industrial Design - Product Design.
The 4 years at the University showed me how close the automobile market was, restricted and selective. Some colleagues even succeeded, but for me it did not. I continued to apply everything I learned about design where I could, how I could and even if I could not. I kept working on engineering for 9 years, until I realized I needed to change again. Engineering has given me a lot of knowledge and experience for many things I do until today. Nothing is lost.
In fact, I started my design work in 1999, two years after I graduated. Two friends and I set up a small agency to provide graphic design, web design, photography and communication services. We did a lot of small jobs, which taught us a lot but did not support us. Less than a year later, we're done. After that, I started working in design offices, I was an agency partner, I worked and still work a lot as a freelancer.
Yeah, time goes by, time flies. I keep on going my way trying to do what I like, fueled by my childhood dreams and the learning gained from experience. Among other activities, I am an almost professional musician, I love Automobilism and Cosmology. I keep my creativity and my child side always active, especially sharing my time with my child.
I'm still drawing my cars!
